Letter for 2006

December 24th, 2008

I found my 2006 letter and thought that I wold publish it here, so you have a quick idea about that year.

Bonjour Everyone and Happy New Year,

Can you believe that it has already been one year since my last letter? Lets see, this year started with us buying seasonal ski passes to Val dIsere. It was one cold winter that didnt bring us much snow until March. Needless to say, we didnt do too much else but ski until May, got to make that money back somehow!! April brought Stacey and Mike with their clients to Paris. I met up with them there and played tour guide. It was fun to be able to use my knowledge of French and negotiating skills for them. We went to the Louvre, Arch of Triumph, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Disneyland Paris, and did some sightseeing from the Seine of the monuments on a Bateau-Mouche. We had a great time. I was also able to update her wine stock for the wedding by lugging, more than my body weight worth of wine, to Paris. It was interesting.
In May, Jean-Marc surprised me with a long Romantic weekend at a little spa in Lake Constance Germany. What a relaxing weekend. We visited the island of Manau which is covered by all sorts of flowers. It is something special to see. I got to see where the Led Zepplins got started. Then we took a ferry across the lake to Switzerland, were we saw a pretty waterfall.
July brought us a huge headache, as our car would not stop breaking down and costing us a fortune. As, soon as it was fixed, a day or 2 later it would break down again. So, I work some killer hours to try to help out with the payments. We did go to the annual fair in my in-laws town of Az. We actually got to take a 30 minute tour in a helicopter. It was very cool.
August, we did manage to take a couple of days to visit some friends in a little town called Lautrec, where you can buy the best pink garlic! A week later had me off to Cairo for work for 2 weeks. It was something else, but was unfortunately to busy to really visit the sites. So, I headed back to Grenoble for a day, only to take off the next day to Ireland to visit my girlfriend Sharon in Galway. Jean-Marc and I had a treat trying to figure out driving on the opposite side of some really, really small roads. What a beautiful country, but man can it ran and it has a lot of sheep.

October and November were all about scrap booking. One of my girlfriends here in France is a complete addict to it. So, I was able to squeeze out almost 2 projects with her encouragement. It is nice to have found someone as insane as myself about scrap booking. She is actually be worst than me, but is one talented girl. The end of November and December had me crazy preparing for my trip home for three weeks for the holidays and Stacey wedding ( never thought she would have it). It was total insanity before I left, as we decided to purchase a car, got tired of the other one breaking down and paying a fortune for it, the day before I left for Boston. My negotiating skills were once again put to the test. Funny, Jean-Marc is the frenchy, but I end up having to do all the negotiating, go figure. At least I am good for something.

So, it brings us to where I am writing this letter, on the plane with Pfitzauf on our way to Boston and cant wait to get there!! I look forward to seeing everyone there. I hope that I will get a good ole New England snow storm, so Stacey can have a white wedding, just as long as it isnt on the day of her wedding.

I hope that you all had a good year. Happy Holidays and have a great 2007!!

PS: Im still waiting for some visitors!

Christmas Letter 2005

January 4th, 2006

Hi and Bonjour All,
I thought that I would try to start doing my Season Greeting letter again. Jean-Marc, Pfitzauf, and I are still living in Grenoble France (which in not near Paris). We just cant seem to get enough of the mountains. Jean-Marc was laid off from his job, but I am happy to say that he has found a new job! What a relief.

Let me back up to last Christmas. We were lucky to have the whole Leigh family (Mom, Dad, Stacey, Mike, and Steven) come to France for Christmas. It was a wild course, since they could only stay for a week. We started the fete in Az, were the Leighs and Lenormands united to celebrate Christmas. We were a total of 18 people with the two families. We had such a blast! When then made way, with just the Leighs, to our house to spend a few days in Grenoble. We showed them what real skiing is by going to Les Saisies in the Savoir region. On our last day we took them on a scary, but beautiful ride through a mountain passage with huge icicles. We would have loved for them to stay longer, but they all needed to get back to work. They dont have 6 weeks of vacation like us.

We spent the rest of the winter skiing in Val dIsre. We are lucky that Jean-Marcs parents have an apartment in the station that we can take full advantage. April, my mothers little grape vine informed us that some Burlingtonites had moved to Grenoble. We met Chris, Kristen, Adel, and Terrence Giovaniello and spends lots of fun time with them. I was finally able to pass on my knowledge of here. In May, we took a little trip next to Barcelona, Spain. If you ever get the chance, I totally recommend visiting there. June and July, I took advantage of my Christmas gift, a new mountain bike. We took a weekend in Mjanne, weekend in Val dIsre, and Cote St. Andre in Isre. In August we took a few days in the Verdon, which has a beautiful canyon. We peddled in a little boat down the river to take in the view. It was a nice weekend, as we found an awesome little B&B (La Maquisarde) that treated Pfitzauf as a king.

November took me to Boston, after a two year absent. I can tell you that I did some serious shopping. It was great to see everybody!!! I came home to lots surprises, kids getting so big, others expanding the size of their families, and others getting engaged. I wish that I had more time. I came to France to the German St. Nicolas holiday that is celebrated by my mother in-law every year. I can tell you that it is not an intelligent night, as the brothers decided to do an after hours party until 7:00 am the next day. We celebrated Christmas and New Years with Jean-Marcs family in Val dIsre. We purchased season passes this year for Val dIsre and are pretty much there every weekend.

Well, we are still waiting for people to take advantage that we live in France and to come visit. We would love to have you.

Sorry so late, the photos had a little problem arriving from the post office.

Love Always,

Sharon, Jean-Marc, and Pfitzauf
