Pfitzauf et Maya Bee dans les Alpes

October 25th, 2009

So, after much traveling and socializing, we finally got to get back to baby swimming. We also remembered to bring the camera this time! The last time that we went swimming in September, Maya started going under water. I was afraid that we missed this photo opportunity, as she changes so quickly, but I am happy to announce that we have a real little fish on our hands. Definitely seems that she has her moms athletic ability as well as her energy level.
Here are a couple of shots and a quick video of her going underwater:

So, Daddy finally found some time to transfer the video from the camcorder. Maya had already taken a couple of steps October 9th, but she really took off October 17! Now, there is no stopping her, except her park. Don’t get much done, since I’m chasing her away from the dog and steps. Pfitzauf (the dog) is cursing us for encouraging her to walk. She gets a kick out of chasing him, too bad the feelings aren’t reciprocated.
Here is the video of the newest momentous occasion:

Pfitzauf “Best in Show”

October 14th, 2009

THis past weekend was quite eventful for us. Daddy went on vacation with his mommy and daddy, and Maya Pfitzauf and myself stayed in Grenoble. Why, do you ask. Well, Last year at this time, there was a local dog show for pure breeds and mutts. I got Pfitzauf all prepared to enter the contest, only to be told that the date to sign him up was already closed!!! Now, I was very pregnant and did not take this news well!
Well, a year later, a new store opened up and held the same type of show. I signed Pfitzauf up right away; I wasn’t going to miss it this time!! So, There was a first cut and Pfitzauf came through with flying colors! We made the finals that were held on Saturday, October 9, 2009. So, Called our dog dresser and got him an appointment to get all gussied up for the big show. He came out looking gorgeous. So, We headed on to the show. Me and Maya had on matching outfits. We went with a mountain theme. We had on Jeans, vests (her red and me beige), t-shirt (her beige and me red), and hiking boots.

We arrived at the contest to find that there were 17 participants that made the final cut. The criterion for the contest were:
- aesthetic
- obedience
- relation between dog and master

So, it was Pfitz, Maya and Me, thank goodness Pfitz obeys and is an angel, as we in the middle of the list to appear before the judges. Each dog had there ears, eyes, teeth, skin, fur, and claws checked. Then each person had to walk with there dog up a catwalk and slalom between barrels and come to a sitting position. Then each dog had to lay down, then sit and stay, as the owner walked away down the catwalk. We then had to call the dog to heel. Then it was freestyle. We blown everyone AWAY!! I was sooooo proud of Pfitzauf. We had our turn, mind you that I had no choice but to carry Maya in my arms the whole time, they looked Pfitz over, and then we walk down and through the barrels and he sat. The when I asked him to lay down, he laid down and rolled onto his back with his 4 paws in the air. Everyone burst out laughing, as he was really laying down. Then I told him to stay, then called him to heel, Perfection! This is where we blew everyone away, the freestyle, Pfitzauf showed off a few of his best tricks:
- backup, where he moves in a sitting position backwards
- give me 5, each paw
- dead
- rollover
- don’t move with a treat on his nose, until I say ok, he doesn’t move!
- speak
He was amazing and cute as anything. People cam up to me while the judges deliberated, saying that we had it in the bag. Almost 2 hours later, they cam out to announce the winners, starting with 8th place. It seemed like it took forever for them to come to the top 3. My breath was taken away when they announced Pfitzauf’s name. He totally deserved it. He won 1 year of his dog food, which comes to an amount of 500 ($750), a 5 gift certificate to the store, and treats. I always knew that he is a champion, now even more people know. Here is the winner:

We left after being at the competition for 4 hours! I had one pooped girl and dog in the car:

Last week, Maya, you had the chance to meet a great group of handicap clients that were traveling with your Uncle Mike. You mom got to show of her French skills and help out as, guide/translator. We met up with them in Luzern Switzerland, then pass through Interlaken, Swiss, then onto Az. Luzern was beautiful, even though it was cloudy and prevented us from seeing the mountains in all their splendor. You were the best little traveler, which was lucky for mommy, since it was just the 2 of you. We were just sad the Auntie Stacey couldn’t be there too, but understand that she needed to work.

Is that Pfitz, lol ?!?!

So cookie, I thought that I would take a minute and catch you up on what has been going on. You have quite the social calendar! We started baby swimmers again and you now go underwater. Now, we need to remember to bring the camera to baby swimmers!! We went to an Organic fair and saw some of our friends from the Le Leche League. Then we took a little side trip to see Peio and his family. It was so good to see them. We took a nice walk with them.
You started at a new nanny at the beginning of the month, which was easier for you than your mommy. After a couple of, lets say misunderstandings, we seem to have finally found a good rhythm. You seem to really enjoy her and that is what matters most. Just a couple of bumps on the way. Two of your friends also started with their new Nannies. Manon and Peio’s mommy had to go back to work. They had to go through the same thing as your mommy. We got to spend a little time with them, as we will have less opportunity to hang out. Here are some photo’s from hanging and shopping with Peio for the day:

Gotta Love Bread!

How cute is Mayas little boyfriend?! !

You are full of energy and the nanny will back me up. You want to go everywhere and see everything. You aren’t far from walking, you can do 2 steps for awhile, but revert back to crawling, as you have less risk of falling. You stand up well, but just lack a bit of courage to take off walking, which is fine by me, as you get into enough as it is. Mommy wanted to do a farewell to 9 months clothes, but it hasn’t been easy!! It had to be done over a couple of shoots. Here a some of the results:

Hey, this is my shoot! But, I think Pfitz is making it clear that he wants in too!

You stay, you know you get brushed

The sky is falling

I scream for ice cream

Too cute

You forgot me

You asked for it!

Trying on jewelry, earrings soon ???

The last days of summer weather

Then we restarted the monthly meetings with the La Leche League, after a summer off. It was good to see everyone. Mommy and you are starting to make some friends from there. The difficult part is the meetings are made more for stay at home mommies, as they are in the late morning, and mommy needs to take a day off from work, but it is worth it. We went to Pascale and Hubert house the other day. They introduced us to a new breastfeeding group that runs like a big sister to a pregnant or new mommy that is starting to breastfeed. Mommy talk to them about starting a Big sister for mommies going back to work that still want to continue breastfeeding. You are still breastfeeding and have not been very sick. Mommy hopes that she can share her knowledge with others.

Then Grandpre came for one night. He actually took care of you for 2 hours, so mommy could sneak off to the gym. You were suppose to take a nap, but took awhile to settle down. Mommy wishes she could go to the gym more often, but hopefully will be able to after your birthday party.

We went to your first wedding party this weekend and you were the belle of the ball. You wore your dress that Aunt Busha gave you. Unfortunately, it started to rain and we were outside and had to leave. You ended up getting a little laryngitis. You sound so funny, but cute. Hopefully it will go away soon. Here is your beautiful dress and first pair of real ballet slippers:

Maya at her first wedding, pretty as a princess

Now we are preparing ourselves for Uncle Mike and his gang. We will post our pictures!!
